Malis Restaurant Phnom Penh

Malis Phnom Penh
One evening in Phnom penh we hired a Tuk-Tuk and went to Malis Restaurant for a wonderful dinner. We had reservations for our first experience at this famous Khmer dining spot. The exterior was beautiful and has a great atmosphere inside with tables surrounding an attractive pond. World class staff training, very high quality and interesting food, a beautiful atmosphere along with a fascinating and exceptional menu.

Our meal was fantastic. Both of us had a Prix Fixe meal the meal with that began a special Khmer fruit and caviar amuse bouche that let us know we were in for a treat with the coming courses. Next was a wonderful shrimp and Avocado presentation with the shrimp the in the shell. It was very fresh and tasty Kampot shrimp and tender Avocado.

The following course was an extremely flavorful Oxtail soup with a savory broth that we both really liked. Then the Prix Fixe proceeded to the main course which was Khmer Curry Lamb chops the were totally over the top in taste.

After all these food items that we had (we were getting very full),  we were presented with a delicious Sticky Rice and Ice Cream dessert. It was a perfect way to end the meal. Did I mention that this all went with a delicious bottle of Australian Pinot Noir.

The Executive Chef, Luu Meng is Cambodia’s only Master Chef. He is constantly experimenting  with flavors and textures and digging out his country’s culinary secrets to be shared in the Malis kitchen. The food Malis produces is among the best in Cambodia.

Malis is a very high-end restaurant that boasts a "Living Khmer Cuisine". By researching, practicing and promoting the ancient and historic Cambodian cuisine, Chef Luu and Malis aims at and succeeds in safeguarding the Khmer food heritage for years to come. We'll definitely return the next time we’re in Phnom Penh.

Highly recommended!
