Nob Hill

Cable Cars on California to Nob Hill

Nob Hill, San Francisco. What a cool neighborhood! Plenty of stores, shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and the people seem quite nice! Dogs everywhere. It's in the middle of the city, beautiful buildings all around, great neighborhood!
Nob Hill Victorians
Nob Hill is one of the most romantic parts of the city. There are very few actual homes left so keep your eye out for one. Nob Hill is like stepping back into a more romantic time.
Nob Hill Parking
Wedged between downtown, Polk Street, the Tenderloin, Chinatown and Little Italy, Nob Hill represents a true cross-section of San Francisco. Great architecture, shopping and food are the hallmarks of this neighborhood.
Russian Hill from Califronia Street
Not sterile or snobby, Nob Hill presents itself at the top of the hill. One of the finer neighborhoods in SF (and consequently more expensive) this neighborhood is in the center of it all.  10 min walk to Pacific Heights and Chinatown, 20 min walk to SOMA, Financial district, North Beach (all a $5-7 cab ride as well). There’s also many bars, restaurants, boutiques and coffee houses just down the hill on Hyde and Polk. Fantastic central place. Only a couple of blocks down the Powell St hill to Union Square, very close. There is the Powell St Cable Car too, Very charming.

Grace Cathedral
There’a also the unique cable cars crossing Nob Hill. The Powell-Hyde line runs across Nob Hill so you can easily head to the wharf. Also can head downtown on the California line.
Huntington Park
There are not many other locations in San Francisco that offer the stunning vistas you get from atop Nob Hill. There’s also the top hotels found here including the Intercontinental, Mark Hopkins and the Fairmont. Because Nob Hill is a little out of the way it is very quiet.

Nob Hill's a must do when visiting San Francisco.

Union square is quite close to Nob Hill. It''s just down the hill a couple of blocks. Nob Hill is a fairly steep hill.

The original gold and silver barons lived on Nob Hill and they invented cable cars so they could get back up to their mansions without walking or killing their horses.
