Fleur de Lys

Fleur de Lys, San Francisco. The original 75-seat restaurant occupies an unobtrusive windowless mid-block storefront on Sutter Street near Jones in the Tenderloin- Lower Nob Hill.
Nob Hill is one of the most romantic parts of the city; our evening started out at the Nob Hill Ritz Carlton, where we were staying. After drinks we walked over to Fleur de Lys to have a Special Birthday dinner. We loved it, very romantic and exciting. We couldn’t wait to taste Chef Keller’s food.
Fleur de Lys Interior
Fleur de Lys has been ranked as one of the top 25 restaurants in the United States by Food & Wine magazine. The fixed-price cuisine is classic French, with innovative dishes using French techniques based on Keller's Alsatian  background. To suit local tastes, the restaurant cooks with reduced fat, offers vegetarian and no-fat dinners, and features seasonal California ingredients.
Filet Mignon and Lobster with Mac and Cheese
The food, especially the grand marnier souffle was exceptional, and service was wonderful. As we were here for a birthday dinner, the service went above and beyond. We were greeted several times, our seat was nice and cozy. Ambiance was perfect. It was one of the best dining experiences that we've had.
Salmon with Potato Souffle
One picks the number of prix fixe courses and we opted for 4 courses each. For the price and service, we thought that this was above the typical 1 michelin star restaurant. Fleur de Lys steps it up in terms of ambiance and service.
Fleur Burger Dessert
We had filet mignon with lobster truffled mac & cheese and loved how the truffled mac & cheese tasted together. It's genius how it was served in brioche, and delicious when eaten together. We also had the salmon dish which was perfectly created and prepared. Delicious.
Gran Marnier Souffle
We ended the meal with a signature Fleur Burger dessert in addition to the candy cart and the souffle we ordered. Perfect ending.
This restaurant exceeded our expectations and the service was outstanding. The ambience was perfect for a romantic dinner, and we couldn't ask for anything more.
Highly recommended!

Nob Hill

Cable Cars on California to Nob Hill

Nob Hill, San Francisco. What a cool neighborhood! Plenty of stores, shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and the people seem quite nice! Dogs everywhere. It's in the middle of the city, beautiful buildings all around, great neighborhood!
Nob Hill Victorians
Nob Hill is one of the most romantic parts of the city. There are very few actual homes left so keep your eye out for one. Nob Hill is like stepping back into a more romantic time.
Nob Hill Parking
Wedged between downtown, Polk Street, the Tenderloin, Chinatown and Little Italy, Nob Hill represents a true cross-section of San Francisco. Great architecture, shopping and food are the hallmarks of this neighborhood.
Russian Hill from Califronia Street
Not sterile or snobby, Nob Hill presents itself at the top of the hill. One of the finer neighborhoods in SF (and consequently more expensive) this neighborhood is in the center of it all.  10 min walk to Pacific Heights and Chinatown, 20 min walk to SOMA, Financial district, North Beach (all a $5-7 cab ride as well). There’s also many bars, restaurants, boutiques and coffee houses just down the hill on Hyde and Polk. Fantastic central place. Only a couple of blocks down the Powell St hill to Union Square, very close. There is the Powell St Cable Car too, Very charming.

Grace Cathedral
There’a also the unique cable cars crossing Nob Hill. The Powell-Hyde line runs across Nob Hill so you can easily head to the wharf. Also can head downtown on the California line.
Huntington Park
There are not many other locations in San Francisco that offer the stunning vistas you get from atop Nob Hill. There’s also the top hotels found here including the Intercontinental, Mark Hopkins and the Fairmont. Because Nob Hill is a little out of the way it is very quiet.

Nob Hill's a must do when visiting San Francisco.

Point Bonito

Point Bonita Lighthouse is so cool. It’s a wonderful walk out to it through a hand carved tunnel and across a new wood suspension bridge to the old light house that started in the 1870’s. Plus, there’s wonderful views of Bonita Cove and the Golden Gate  Bridge with San Francisco in the background. Beautiful place.
The Point Bonito location required the builders to overcome many challenges to build the lighthouse, including the need for the hand carved, 118-foot (36 m) long hard rock tunnel and the wooden suspension bridge.

Tunnel Entrance to Lighthouse
Point Bonita isn’t the standard tall, thin lighthouse we associate with lighthouses. Since this lighthouse was built right on a tall cliff, the lighthouse itself is only two stories high. Getting there, we saw a lot of birds and seals on the rocky beaches.

View of Llightkeepers House
Open on Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays from 12:30 - 3:30pm. The trail is paved for a short portion as you go downhill and as you approach the tunnel, steady yourself on the dirt road. You'll need to walk slowly since the winds can be very strong.
Inside the lighthouse are many interesting and informative displays and artifacts about the lighthouse's past and the importance of the Golden Gate to shipping and defense.
1000 Watt Bulb Example
• Point Bonita Light Station had the first fog signal on the West Coast, an Army surplus 24-pounder siege gun.
• This light is the only one in America that can be reached only by crossing a suspension bridge.
• In 1877 the lighthouse was moved to its current location because the original location was often too obscured by fog for     the light to be visible from the bay.

It can get really cold and windy on there so it’s a good idea to dress in layers. It’s a very rewarding place to go.
